The Northeast’s Hereford Resource

ABOUT US

Welcome to the Farm! We’re the Holden Family, a 2nd Generation Brother-Sister duo raising registered Hereford genetics in Broad Brook, CT. We’ve spent our lifetimes dedicated to raising high-performance, structurally sound, docile show cattle. Herb and his partner Jon manage the farm’s beef and pork business and Ashley is a large animal agricultural teacher at Smith Vocational in Northampton, MA. Together, we carefully select genetics from all-across the country that focus on calving ease and weight per day of age while not sacrificing on style and longevity. Farming is in our blood and we’re always glad to meet new folks who are looking for starter 4H projects for their family or just need to improve their own farm stock.

Over the last 10 years, these herd sires have shaped our genetics. While we do focus our breeding program to include both AI and Embryo transfer, we also rely on these quality genetics to keep our calving seasons on time without sacrificing calving ease and growth.

We are actively showing at The New York State Fair, The Big E and the Keystone International Livestock Expo. We’ve helped many show families get started in the Hereford business and would be glad to assist you. Come see us in 2020!  Give us a call!

All Cattle Sold Off-Farm have been dewormed, vaccinated and come with a certificate of health from our veterinarian. We guarantee all of our breeding stock to be fertile and productive or we’ll find you a suitable replacement. Additionally, we can assist you in halter breaking calves for your youth showman.

DHX Honey Jack – SOLD

Sire: GO 3196 ADVANCE S109 |  Dam: GOBLE LADY LUCK 329Y ET

This is a super athletic, calving specialist, 6 year old bull. He’s a moderate sized bull that works great on first-calf heifers. He’s out of S109 whos transformed the breed and put a lot of functional udders into the industry. His granddam is LAKE LADY 225U, one of Bob Goble’s most favorite donor cows in Michigan. We’ve used him with a lot of success and we have many high performing daughters in the herd, but it’s time to move him to another outift. He does have a scur, but is very docile and fully halter-broke.
This is a GREAT investment. – $3500
